Hurst doctor denies sexually abusing patient, says he was disciplined for doing breast exam without chaperone

Dr. Stevan Cordas has emailed me an explanation for his troubles with the Texas Medical Board, which I mentioned in a recent post about doctors who’d been disciplined after sexual abuse allegations.

First, here’s a more detailed account than I previously gave of what board records say about the matter: Cordas was performing a workers comp exam in 2010 on a woman with jaw pain. “He stood between her legs and started massaging her neck and squeezing her throat and put his hands through her hair,” the patient told the board. “He also stood behind her and palpated her back and then put his hands on her breast.”

Next, the Hurst doctor had her sit and measured how far she could open her mouth. “He then spread her legs and stood in between them and stuck his finger in and out of her mouth several times.” She alerted police and “passed a polygraph test in regard to the facts she reported,” although prosecutors later dropped the case.
